In my quest to hook up my home lab, I've made several unsuccessful attempts. Any advice would be great.
Computer 1. NT SERVER- 64mb, 400mhz, 27g HD
Computer 2. No OS- 16mb, 486 66mhz, 6.4 g HD
I've tried just about everything up to this point with no success. I did install 98 successfully, but the machine runs so slow. I want to put WS on Computer 2.
First I made the 3 NT boot floppies from the WS CD by going to the prompt and typing "cd i386\winnt32\ox. It worked, I have the 3 bootable floppies, but I can't install WS. I load the 3 boot disks and setup gets to the point where it tells me to press enter to restart my computer. I restart and it goes through the post which is fine and then it's at a stand-still with a blinking cursor?
Ok that didn't work so I tried to make the "Network Installation Startup Disks" from the Network Client Administrator. I followed MS instructions:
1. Run the Network Client Admin.
2. Click "Copy Client-based Network Administration Tools" and then click "Continue"
3. Click "Copy files to a new directory, and then Share", then Click "OK"
4. Create a winnt subdirectory of the clients directory.
5. Create a winnt.srv subdirectory of the clients directory.
6. Run xcopy /s /i D:\i386 C:\clients\winnt\netsetup
Now what, I have know idea what to do. I tried to copy the clients directory to floppies and then use them as boot disks, but this didn't work.
Another thing since I have an older BIOS I used a MAXTOR HDD Utility to load EZ Bios and I partitioned the HD into 4 equal segments. I tried to load WS on C: and D: with no success.
Please Help!
