When nt 4 workstation was originally installed on my computer it was not intended
to be part of a network so I disabled the network sharing in the os set-up. Since then I have set-up a small 4-machine network with
3 win-95 machines and the afore mentioned
nt-workstation. The 95 machines are all up
& fine on the network & the nt-box is seeing
them as well but the nt-box is not showing up on the network & there is simply no file-menu choices to enable sharing on the nt-box.
I need to reinstall network sharing in nt 4
but do not want to re-format and do a full
install. When I tried to install nt 4 over
the current install, nt setup did not recognize any of my internal ide-drives as
well as all of my external scsi drives & adapters. Do I need to reinstall all of the
drivers for every piece of hardware on the
system when reinstalling nt 4 over an existing install? Or is there some other way to reinstall network sharing without reinstalling the operating system from scratch. Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you did not need to re-install anything but, now that you have started, you may have to. You need to get NT back up on its feet before you do anything.

As for enabling sharing, NT doesn't have a specific option to turn this feature on or off. If the NT workstation is network enabled, it's sharing enabled as well. Once you have your NT workstation back on the network, just right-click on any folder you want to share to the network and select Sharing from the option menu.
