Windows 7 & Acronis TI

I have been using TI for several years on my XP systems and have been very pleased with this product. My installed version of TI is really too old to work with Windows 7, so I was wondering if anyone had been able to get the newer versions of TI working on Windows 7 RC 64bit.

You might want to play around with the "Built In" version of the disk imaging function;)

I have actually used the "built-in" function. The image files are relatively (or completed) uncompressed and take a lot of space - I know, given the size of today's hard drives, who cares, but I come from the dinosaur age where large disk drives were 10MB. :p

The bigger issue for me with the "built-in" function is the requirement that you must specify individual files to be backed-up as separate images if you want to restore any individual files and not the partition image. While I rarely do an individual file restore, when I need it is comes in real handy.

The built-in function is "just" adequate, but I guess I just really like the ability to back up a compressed image using TI, which allows me to restore the complete image or individual files.

If one of your drives is either Maxtor or Seagate you can use Seagate Disk Wizard which is a free download and actually is TI as far as Imaging is concerned--just doesn't have some fancy features not required for imaging.

You didn't say which version of TI you installed, but even TI2009 doesn't work properly on Win7 yet. The DiscWizard version is not the latest version TI, so that has even less chance of working.

I wouldn't expect to have full Win7 support until it is final, but you can try using the rescue disc of TI2009 to make the image.

Then the problem must be the 64 bit as Seagate Disk Wizard works properly for me with 32 bit--use it constantly and it works just fine.

I have TI version 8, which I am quite certain will not work. That is why I was asking if anyone had tried successfully or unsuccessfully to use a later version like 2009. Based on posts at some other forums, some people have successfully, at least partially, used 2009. For ther interim, I am using the "built-in" back-up for general back-up purposes. However, I was trying to shortcut some of my file moves from my XP system by copying an XP image over to the Windows 7 system and then using TI to cherry pick off the files I wanted to copy to the Windows 7 system.
