Need fast help on anti virus programs

You recommended Avira, well it is not catching all the viruses that bombarded us on the other computer.

What about Avast and is there a download link you can give for it?

Which is really best.

I have to tell you that I am not overly impressed with Aviri.

I have a brand new HP that I plan to hook up tomorrow and I need to know what is the very best free program.

OH AND YES WE GOT THE UPDATES BEFORE WE SCANNED.

I've used both. I prefer Avast simply because of the user interface and the lack of the big ad on the Avira startup screen. They're both good at doing the job though and it might be a coin toss.
