I often see confusion about the latest version of Java. Using my PC, I am told at the following site that I have the latest Java JRE which is supposedly Version 6 Update 7.

and this site also offers me Update 7 http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
I do not know if these sites are tailored to each viewer's PC or whether I am accessing outdated info.
Maybe the availability of Update 10 is just too new for the rest of Sun to have caught up.
There seems little question that Update 10 is offered on the page Broni suggested

Unfortunately, Sun has been always lazy about updating first two links, you quoted.
The last one is usually current.

Yep, JRE 6 Update 10 is out. I upgraded fine but discovered one thing (thanks to Bill P and WinPatrol!) Update 10 installs something new called the Java Quick Starter. It's a service that runs from boot and is there to allow Java to start up much quicker than previous versions. (JQS also installs a BHO in IE and an extension in FF.)

But... if you're like me, Java's startup speed is less important than having your PC running as lean as possible. So, to disable JQS, open up the Java Console (inside the Control Panel), go to the Advanced Tab and then uncheck JQS (in the Miscellaneous section.)

Thanks for the heads up. I forgot about it.
The above Java update, tries also to drive-by-install of OpenOffice. The option for downloading installer is pre-checked. Not, that I have anything against OO, but I hate drive-by-installs.
