Hello,

I'm trying to transfer vinyl to cd using Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 and a Creative Sound Blaster Live card. My turntable is connected to the phono-in jack on my amplifier and the amplifier tape2-out plugs connect to my pc line-in (or the tape1-out jacks connect to the pc line-in)
My problem is that I am getting no signal to the PC. I have also tried removing the jumpers between the amplifier pre-amp and main-amp and connecting the pre-out to the PC line-in. Any ideas?

Did you turn on 'phono-in' option in windows sound settings?

make sure that the PC line in is not muted and the fader is up at least half way or so in sound properties/mixer. If it's ok then the preamp out on the amplifier is post volume control so you should have that up to a level where you normally listen to music as well.

Assuming the cables are working, the output from the preamp is there and the line input (blue) to the PC is not muted then you should be getting signal. Try using this free, high quality program to do the recording..

audacity...

It's one of the best of its type. If it does the job then you could go back to just using the tape 1 or 2 outputs which would be more convenient.

Oops! I had the cable plugged into the wrong 'blue' jack on my pc. I now have a signal. Thanks for the prompts regarding settings and hardware.

while on recess from school I decided it was time to part with my vinyl collection and I've undertaken to transferring them to cd's.You are going to lose ALOT OF QUALITY!! (Vinyl is the best (Being analog opposed to digital))
