I would rather be safe than sorry. HAN June 5th, 2008, 08:01 PM At this point, Firefox 3 is in the form of Release Candidate 2. While this is a couple of steps beyond the beta stage, it is still not a final release. It's my understanding that unless you take specific precautions to avoid problems, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 do not co-exist well on the same PC. There are several differences in how they run and store settings/data. With the knowledge that many FF2 Add-ons do not yet work with FF3, and the fact that it still may undergo some changes, I would think most users should not run FF3 yet. As for whether it's faster, many testers have indeed said so. Once the final version is released, we'll have a better answer... :) Train June 5th, 2008, 08:12 PM So, I will wait longer yet! Thanks HAN! Broni June 5th, 2008, 08:28 PM Han is totally right. Final will be released this month. More about FF3 reatures: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,146279/article.html?tk=nl_cxanws I've been testing FF3 on XP since early beta releases, and it's a solid browser. jmtjet June 5th, 2008, 08:32 PM I had some problems with it on my Linux machine. I finally dropped back to version 2. It was still in beta then, I hope they iron out the bugs before the final release. HAN June 5th, 2008, 08:56 PM I forgot but there is a way to give FF3 a safe test drive. You can run the portable version available from PortableApps http://portableapps.com/news/2008-06-04_-_firefox_portable_3_rc_2 If one wants to be sure their current installed FF2 stays as is, you should probably run portable FF3 from a USB flash drive (and make sure that FF2 is NOT running at the same time.) Again, remember that most Add-ons are not FF3 ready! Broni June 5th, 2008, 09:15 PM Here is another way: http://blog.codefront.net/2007/08/20/how-to-have-firefox-3-and-firefox-2-running-at-the-same-time/, but....I'd wait couple more weeks, when final version comes up. yvesj June 5th, 2008, 10:03 PM i did some reading and they say that it is 3 time faster than 2 and 6 time faster than internet explorer .thank you for all your reply .so i will wait and see what happen with people that try it .i do not have problem with version 2 . virtualdr.com
