I want to set up a wireless home network using a Trendnet wireless USB Adapter model TEW-424UB and a TRENDnet Wireless G Brand Router model TEW-432BRP. I can buy both of these units for $30 for the pair. I don't know this brand name and I am wondering if this equipment is ok to use.

Any help would be much appreciated.

TN has worked ok for me. I can't remember what the first device was that we used from them but currently, we have a 36 port switch in use at work that has ran 24/7 for well over a year.

If they both support WPA encryption, I'd probably go for them...

Thanks for your quick reply Han,

How do I determine if they both support WPA encryption?

The reason I mentioned WPA is because should you need/decide to use encryption, you should use WPA or WPA2 with a 63 character pass key. WEP encryption is no longer safe.

Looks like you are good to go...

Wireless G Broadband Router TEW-432BRP
"You can also protect your Wireless LAN using 64/128-bit WEP encryption or industry standard WPA-PSK with TKIP or AES algorithms." "Supports 802.1x WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK for Advance Security"

54Mbps 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter TEW-424UB
"Supports 64/128-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK"
