Hello everyone,
long time no post for me. Anyway I have a question about networking my Lap top Vista premium with my desktop XP sp2. My desktop was built by me. It is an older computer with a 2.57 pent. 4 pros. one 160 gig hard drive and about 750 in memory and is hard wired into a wirerless router.
My Lap top is about 6 month old it has Vista prem. dual core pross. I think it is about a 1.6 pross. It has 1024 meg of memory and a 60 gig hard drive. It is wiresessly contected to the router. They both are on the internet at the same time so I know it is seeing and using the router. Anyway just wondering if anyone knew if there was someplace to go to have a step by step teaching on getting them to talk to each other?

If you haven't already, I suggest review the steps in this TechNet Article and see if this helps you. Let us know how it goes, and report back if you need more help.

In xp go to "my network places", ignore the network browser, hit F3 and search for the other computer name. In Vista, essentialy the same procedure but a bit more complicated.


(Warning - VISTA will cook a notebook...)

Hello again.
Thanks for that infomation about that soft wear, I will look it up. But my question is your statment about "(Warning - VISTA will cook a notebook...)" I was wondering why you say that?

Actually far from cooking a notebook, Vista has better power management and should help it run cooler.
