At the moment it seems to be confined to the UK, and only to folks visiting certain porn sites, but if this is decided to be all legal an above board then it opens up all sorts of worrisome scenarios :( It will undoubtedly spread beyond the UK.

Of couse, you can always reinstall Windows, nobody could prevent you doing that on your own PC.

It looks similar to the Sony rootkit software that was used on music CD's. In the US I don't think they would have much chance of collecting any money, and would probably collect some class action lawsuits instead. The UK might be another story.

well.. it's not like the company isn't in their legal bounds if they you agree to the online contract...

I guess, really, don't install programs like this. ever. their is plenty of free porn available online. try one of the youtube like porn sites, (google is your friend)

Ah, but that's really the point. It looks like a young kid installed it in at least one of those cases - and if all anyone has to do is click a couple of buttons, what's to stop them? Of course letting a kid have admin privileges isn't such a good idea, but then these aren't expert users that we're talking about here. And it might be porn sites only at the moment, but what will it be next month if this idea takes off? That's what worries me about it.
