For a school project, my grandson needs to copy some videos from the internet to cd's. What will be the best method to accomplish this. I've seen a few different programs that will do this but I figured I'd ask some of you pro's for advice on which would be the best.

Also, which would be the best cd/dvd to use?

Nero is probably the best overall progam for these types of things but there are many different methods and criteria that need to be taken into account. Do the CDs need to play in a DVD player or just a computer? Do they need to be actual video CDs or can the CDs simply contain the actual video data files? What format (file extension) are the videos that are being downloaded? And how large are they?

He wants them to be actual videos and at this point they're only 10 minutes long. This video is on YouTube and I've tried to get info on it but couldn't find a way to bring up properties on it for him .

First he'll need to get the videos onto his drive. This Firefox add-on, "videodownloader",

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390

will get it/them. But once retrieved then the above questions will still apply. Primarily does he want to create a VCD or DVD that will autoplay in a standalone home DVD/movie player or does he just want to burn the movie file to a CD or DVD for simple file storage/playback in a computer?

Still, Nero would probably be the best bet but there would be some other (freeware etc) choices here too... www.videohelp.com depending on what's needed.

If you are going to make a DVD? Then yes,buy the DVD blanks. DVD+R being the best choice. Nero vision express would be the simplest program to convert to the 'vob' files necessary for making a video DVD. If as you said before, you want to make a VCD(video cd) the a standard 700MB cd disk would be fine. A very good free program to make VCD's is this one (http://www.eazyvcd.tk/#) . Be ready to click the (x) top right of the popup to get rid of it.

note: Keep in mind some older stand alone players can not play VCD's...
