Hello;
My co-worker has a slow and sluggish internet connection, she has broadband. What are some steps she can take to help her connection and internet speed?
She has a gig of ram not sure what size hard drive and is running micrsoft XP.
a quick break down of some things that she can try would be very helpful.

Thanx in advance
Rich!

Rich15985--Is this something new or has her internet connection always been "slow"?
How slow is slow?
Is this in an office where you are both using the same ISP and network? Or at home?
If at work, do you have an IT person? If no IT person, she should test for malware/spyware, etc. See here
http://discussions.virtualdr.com/showthread.php?t=167915
If at home,
There are many speed tests and tweak sites available.
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
http://www.dslreports.com/stest
How does the speed test compare to what the ISP promises? Do any nearby neighbors have better results with the same ISP and speed test?
With data from the speed test, she may want to contact the ISP, especially if she is not getting what she is paying for.
But spyware should also be considered with a home PC.
There are other possible reasons, but answers to the questions asked at the beginning would help narrow things down.

If she is running XP pro then try increasing the amount of bandwidth allocated to the pc by running gpedit.msc. This option isn't available in XP Home

This shows you how

I set mine to 0% but maybe 10% would be better if you have more than one pc connected to the internet.
