I'm building a PC Jukebox and I've decased the PC to install in in the Juke Cabinet I'm building
What do they call and where would I find a PCI extension (cable??), so I can mount the video and sound cards remotely?
Also, do they sell the female connecters that plug onto the header pins for the on/off switch and boot switch? (is there a name for those too?) Where would I buy them?
Links would be helpful if anyone has bought from a particular company.
Thanks guys!

Strangely this company http://www.risercards.com/items.asp?cname=PCI+32+Bit+Extender+%26+Risers&cc=PCI32
and this one http://www.mycableshop.com/items~cname~Pci+32+Bit+Extender+%26+Risers~cc~PCI32.htm
The pages look almost identical so maybe they are the same company.

Splice a couple a couple salvage lines together, or buy a new casw swwitch assembly. One with 24 inch wires cost me about $7.

Nix, thanks but I hope I'm looking at the wrong thing. Their prices are like $70 - $90 each & I'll need 2 or 3.
Can that be right?
Train, I'll try a "case switch" search when I get home from work today.

What dimensions within the case are you restricting the motherboard and cards to MPTech?
Also what type of motherboard are you fitting?

I don't have a pre-difined size yet, just trying to reduce it and allow the flexibilty to move things around.
I don't have the mobo in front of me, I'll have to look it up when I get home.
What are you thinking? (I want to use the parts I have).
If the PCT extenders are that expensive, I'll just mount them as normal.

I was thinking along the lines of the ITX (http://www.mini-itx.com/) or micro ATX (http://www.directron.com/microatx.html) motherboards if you want compact size and "onbaord everything" type install.
I think you will find it hard to find the type of PCI extenders your after [if Im thinking along your lines of thought] that would fit a standard ATX motherboard.

You'll get better reliability running VGA/DVI/audio cables than PCI extenders. They push a lot of data and power over those PCI connections and they aren't designed to be put too far from a processor. I have successfully extended VGA video more than 25 feet. I bet you could do even more with DVI.
If you want a more remote sound solution, you could go with an external, like

electrical tape should set you back $0.99 and you can splice all those little wires to your heart's content... power, power switch, HDD, reset, etc. You should be able to run those a huge distance without problems. You'll probably want to splice some of them to existing switches in the jukebox anyway.
