Hi Everyone
I built two computers one for my wife and one for me.
Mine has a Biostar P4TGT motherboard with a Inter Celeron 2.46G cpu
1G of ram, video and audio on board and a 120G Seagate HDD.

Both are running XP Home.

Wife has a Asus P4SBX-MX-UAYGZ motherboard and an Intel Celeron 2.13G CPU. She has 256MB ram (soon to be upgraded to 512)

We are using Verizon DSL and I have hooked both computers up to a Linksys 4 port router. We are using AVG free and Zone Alarm free.

When I first hooked all this up I thought I would network them together so I tried doing that and failed. She was using W2000 at the time. Both of us had printers so everything was working fine. Then her printer quit. I think she broke it by pulling an envelope out of it that she was trying to address.

I would like to network them now so she can use my printer. In her control panel I can see my printer. Thanks for any help and if you ask me to configure Zone Alarm please tell me how to do that. Thanks.

Open the control panel, select network setup wizard, follow prompts.
Do this on both.
Enable file and printer sharing on both when the wizard asks.

I ran the network wizzard on each computer and I made the floppy disc and ran it on each computer. I still cannot get compter#2 to print on printer connected to computer#1.

Hello gary,

ZoneAlarm is probably the problem here, it can block file and printer sharing if not properly configured. What you need to do, is open ZoneAlarm and add the ip address of the computers to the Trusted Zone. I cannot give you specific instructions as I don't have it installed.

You can easily find the computer's ip address by opening the command prompt, and typing ipconfig.
