Just bought a laptop off lease from a broker, most is good but finding some group policy settings changed making it difficult for the normal user(me). WinXP SP2 pro, toshiba satellite. Installed a 2wire card 802.11A with D-link
614+ wireless router. Now after install is finished, the card seems to find the router (set on open connection) window seems to bee ok with it too. I see a signal from both the card manager and windows saying we have a good connection. I get no internet though. I have a reg pc (hardwire)and another laptop 802.11G connected to the router and sometimes I hook an apple (hardwire) to it. only the new laptop has the problem. I did notice that some strange ip address is trying to work but that is not in my address range. If I force an address it still wont work. Everything looks good but just doesn't connect. Is there something I am missing here, group policy setting, some other ip address that is forced into the laptop? That seems to me as the errors I get are related to ip addressing. The router is set to transmit open A and G cards

Did you turn on the Network enable switch on the right side?
