I found a link to a program in the DVD Recorder (home theater) forum[/url (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=106) at the AVS Forum. Once the program was installed you would insert a Staples-branded (for example) DVD-R into your PC's DVD-R drive and see that the disc was made by CMC. The problem is that I have lost track of the link. I plan to use Taiyo Yuden (http://www.yuden.co.jp/e/products/other_regions/media_index.html) discs fairly exclusively for archiving lots of S-VHS tapes as well as making backups of some DVDs that I own. Does anyone know of such a program?

Also, here is a useful link to blank media quality - http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm The table at the bottom of the page is a branding guide.

If you use Nero, then the Nero Infotool will give you that information.

I found DVD Identifier (http://dvdidentifier.cdfreaks.com/) earlier today. Seems to work fine for my needs. Thanks for all the pointers.
