What kind of cables and software program do I need? fink November 16th, 2006, 09:03 AM It's usually pretty simple.. a cable from whatever audio send is available from the source.. typically stereo RCA if it's a home stereo or possibly stereo mini plug if it's something like an ipod to a stereo mini plug to patch into the line in on your sound card. Then use a good freebie program like Audacity to record the audio being played back in real time... http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ If it's a home stereo then use the stereo record out sends (or aux out if it exists) If it's an ipod type device then set it's volume to around half so as not to overload the computer sound card input and create any unwanted distortion. Double check your sound advanced properties to make sure that line in isn't muted and it's volume is up... usually half to 2/3's on is a good place to start. Any audio editing and recording software can be of use. Try FlexiMusic Wave Editor to record the sound/vocals. http://www.fleximusic.com/waveditor/overview.htm virtualdr.com
