Hello again, Old problem different computer. I have a Dell XPS 400, 2.8 dual core, 2 G RAM, SB Audigy, Norton with all firewalls shut down and 250 G HD, I am unable to access online radio stations in IE and Firefox. The station comes up "the page cannot be displayed". It has the extension .asx usually. In IE, most of the time, I am unable to open a seperate page from a link on a website not in Firefox. I am getting sick n tired of Dell's XPS tech line. This has gone on since I first started the computer. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dog

Open an instance of Windows media player and have a look in tools/options/network/configure(http browser) and see if it's set up the same way as the attached pic.

Hello again, Sorry I was gone. I have checked all of the settings in Windows Media Player as per MS spec and that was on the list. I have also checked my other media players also because no page will open including Realplayer links. Thanks for your time, dog

oreodog--Many stations require that
1) You allow ActiveX controls to run. Easiest way to do that is to put the site's URL into Trusted Sites. (See that the box at the bottom "Require Server Verification..." is unchecked), and
2) a specific player, offered at the station's site, be downloaded and installed.

If they tell you that REalplayer is needed and you don't already have it installed then I'd suggest getting realplayer alternative... It's smaller, more reliable and doesn't have the annoying habit of constantly looking for upgrades.

Problem resolved. Removed Media Player and installed off of OS disk
