Everest problems, anyone?

I downloaded Everest to my Vista computer to more thoroughly check a few things (I recently built it, am fine-tuning etc.) and it ran fine the first two or three times I used it, within an hour's time. After a while, it started acting quirky--clicking on Computer | Overclock, for example, brings up the CPUID section instead. Clicking Computer | Sensor or Motherboard | SPD bring up grayed-out panels where I usually get data.

Anyone else notice this yet?

Most likely it is not compatable with Vista. BJ

I had Everest on disk and it installed and worked ok for awhile.
Frankly,because of the sort of quirkyness you describe and programs installed working ok for awhile then going weird or bellyup,,I'm at the point of flippin' a coin to decide whether to pull it off and ferget Vista. In my experiences,it just can't be trusted... :rolleyes:

I figured it wasn't compatible; I'm trying out Vista on the assumption that little to nothing is compatible. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems this OS is far too complex for the intended purpose, like a Rube Goldberg invention. Existing versions do the job pretty well in a more straightforward manner. I wonder if M$ went way out on a limb developing this in the hope the market would embrace it. It needs more than fancy graphics. The programs may be good, but finding anything is an exercise in four-letter words so far.

If you were thinking about ever trying XP, better hurry. The first signs of being abandoned are already starting to appear:Direct X 10 will be Vista only

And with games (From MS anyhoo) being geared towards just Vista, such as Halo 2, there will be a phase-out from some game-nuts too.

I couldn't get the sensor section to work in Vista x64 either :(

And I though it was bad when Age Of Empries 3 was only supported on WinXP
