Did you install them on seperate drives? on the same drive but on different partitions? Liam sarmadisgreat June 16th, 2006, 06:22 PM its on same drive liam858 June 16th, 2006, 08:03 PM So you're dual booting, can you not just delete the partition from XP, in Disk Management? Liam Undertaker02 June 16th, 2006, 08:43 PM We are assuming here that XP is still there...and it is dual booting.. One of the install methods of Vista is basicly an upgrade.. to which the method of going back to XP is to do a Clean install.. wouldnt attempt a repair install from Vista.. First step regardless of what you did in installling Vista.. BACKUP any of your data..to another drive or a cd/dvd sarmadisgreat June 16th, 2006, 09:07 PM i backed up some neccesary files on a dvd now what should i do to uinstall? liam858 June 16th, 2006, 09:46 PM You can't "uninstall", you can format the partition from within XP, or just clean install XP with the XP CD, and while you're creating a new partition, format both, and merge them, and then create a new one, add XP back on, and add your data back from the DVD, if you're sure the drive is clear of all important data, a clean install of XP would be the easiest thing to do. Liam sarmadisgreat June 16th, 2006, 09:57 PM so i have to kind of format my drive so i can install windows xp? sarmadisgreat June 16th, 2006, 10:44 PM guys please help me to install fresh and new windows xp with everything formatted. Im trying to format my hard drive but it says a message that windows files are inside the folder so its not able to be formated. What should i do to format my hard drive and then install my xp pro over vista. Tuttle June 17th, 2006, 08:00 AM Make sure you're booting off the CD, not starting Setup from within Windows. If you run it from within Windows you won't be able to format. SuperSparks June 17th, 2006, 12:19 PM Before you go to the bother of clean installing WinXP, boot up with the WinXP CD, and go to the Recovery Console. At the command prompt, type "Fixboot", then type "Fixmbr", then "Bootcfg /rebuild" all without the quotes. Hopefully that will stop the PC booting into Vista. If it does post back and we'll tell you what to delete to be rid of it altogether. virtualdr.com
