Best ISP (UK)

Hi

i need to help to choose a new ISP. I am currently with talktalk and they were really good but now turned rubbish. they do not allow p2p which means i cant play some pc games.

I am after a ISP which has up to 8mb, allows p2p to play games and download music and also has a good usage and a decent price (£26 or below)

i was looking at AOL, by signing up and installing there programme to creat the username and password and then remove the aol program and connect using the bt voyager 2100 logon so im perminatly connected not using the aol programme, that ok? as they are up to 8mb, and unlimited downloading + p2p.

whats everyone thoughts on that or recommendations for an ISP?

AOHELL Would be last choice on my list.

NTL Aren't bad IMO, and they offer 10mb for £35, i don't know of any that offer 8mb ish for that cheap, there are allkinds of "smallprint" issues with Bulldog, and Pipex could also be a good choice depending on where you live.

Don't AOL have a propriatory email client if memory serves i.e. they dont use outlook express type programs?
BT in the UK offer up to 8MB using DSLAM but the speed depends how close you are to the exchange

Any ISP that can offer high speeds at low cost without you installing software is a first choice. Dont do AOL, they will take over your computer. You should find a list of local ISPs. Typically, I find that your phone company, if offering DSL, would be a high choice as well.

I've been with Pipex since 2002, and I've been extremely happy with them. They are utterly reliable, and the customer service is superb. I'm in the process of being moved onto an unbundled "up to 8meg" service (6 megs is the most that my line will support they tell me), it's uncapped and costs £17.99 per month.

Re:NTL Take alook here, going to increase 10MB to Unlimited, also, the first 3 months £17.49 http://www.home.ntl.com/icat/broadband you can join them online as well.

Never had any problems with NTLWorld Broadband.

So far as I'm aware there are no restrictions on P2P with Pipex, and the usage limitations depend on which service you sign up for. As I said the unbundled service that I'm moving to is uncapped, so there is no formal download limit at all. However, every ISP will have a "fair usage" clause in their terms and conditions, so none of them are going to be happy with anyone downloading stuff 24/7.

if i wanted to go with aol say if i sign in using my bt voyager control pannel so im perminatly connected that will work fine wont it? insted of having to install that aol crap and signing in through that.

does anyone know what BullDog broadband is like, the unlimited plus service? Do they allow p2p access without any problems? and also when they say unlimied usage/download do they actually mean that or is it a "fair usage policy?"
