I need to know if its possible: I have my own computer hooked up to a linksys Wireles router (with broadband internet).

I was given a throw away computer. I'm going to add a bit more memory and install XP Pro. I want to use this as a junker and really experiment with things. But it is only equiped with a dial up modem card. This would take forever to download off the internet. I also wanted to expend as little cash as possible.

I happen to have a new D-Link wireless PCI card on hand. Should I be able to detect and access my wireless sytem with it? Or do I have to hae a Linksys product to do that.

I know it seems like a stupid question. I've had friends and their laptops come in and go straight on the internet with no problem. But I just needed to ask.

Thanks,
Don

As long as both router or card is b g compatible they should work. You may have to set your router to b g mix for it to work. I have a netgear router a dlink pcmcia card in one laptop a linksys card in a desktop and whatever comes in a centrino laptop and they all get along just fine.
