I will do my best to give all information in regards to this problem.

When trying to install the program Call of Duty 2 I keep getting the following error. http://img465.imageshack.us/img465/2554/error2ba.jpg

Then after closing the error window the CD-rom light stays on but nothing else occurs. This happens immediately after I click on install of the menu shown for the game. It doesn't even begin to install, so I'm led to believe it could be a operating system issue. I ran a google for this type of error and found one entry on a forum. But no answer or reply was given for this type of error.

So thought I would check the error in Dr. Watson log and here is what it shows.

I've tried to install it with nothing but the required processes running to insure that it isn't a memory issue. I ran Xoftspy and Zone Alarm to check for spyware that might be the culprit and found none. I find it hard to believe that it could be a hardware issue cause the program doesn't even begin to install but I could be wrong. I'm going to give Activisions help desk a call later this afternoon, they don't start receiving calls until 9:00 am PST. Until then I wanted to try to get some opinions here first versus sitting on hold and waiting for a human to speak to. We all know how that can be. :rolleyes:

I keep a close eye on whats running, or installed on my system so I find it almost impossible to believe that this is the result of a virus. All other programs & apps are running smoothly and have been for months on end. I consider myself pretty computer savvy but this one has me stumped.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You could try copying the installation files to your hard drive, and run the setup from your computer, see if that helps.

Hi Liam,

After contacting Activision they had me return the product and have it replaced with a brand new one. They also had me to upgrade the Microsoft installer. Still a no go. I tried your suggestion of copying the 1st CD to a hard drive. It went fine until it wanted the second CD, it couldn't locate it. Kept trying to look for it on the hard drive that I copied the #1 CD to. Without the option to point it in the correct direction for the CD rom.

I'm going to make another post here about the Micrososoft Installer. I need to start from scratch I think and be sure that I have went through the procedure of upgrading it properly.

Just wanted to follow up on this post. The error was the result of a corruption of the Microsoft Installer program. I ended up having to format and reinstall Win XP, that solved the problem. Wierd experience to say the least but I learned a few things at the same time. :D

Hello, I came across this post online, and just had to sign up and tell you what is causing this, I am 99.9% sure I am right, as it worked for me. Its zonealarm that causes it, even if you turn it off, it will still do it. The only solution is to unstall zonealarm completely, then install. Worked for me, should work for you too! :)

P.S.
According to activision, zonealarm has been a major problem for installing their software

- I know this has been dormant for a while but I just wanted to say thanks; I had exactly the same problem (endless _isC**.tmp errors) trying to install C&C Generals/Zero Hour, it was driving me nuts and I hadn't a clue what to try until I came across this thread.
It was uninstalling ZA that completely fixed the problem.

I hope you see this and I can pass on my thanks.

Thanks to Cadd43 for posting this unusual problem (maybe first in entire web)
with complete first information for his PC configuration, most thanks to AmunRa- hi registered just to sey hi is right 99,9%- no 100% i sey for Zone alarm's cause this installation problem, thanks to gixxerman hi prove after 3 months this 100% sureness. The Magic to solve problem with uninstalling the ZA security suite for me was impressive (note that software developers and Microsoft himselfs do not now how to solve the problem- they just replace game software, sugests upgrading/reinstalling MS Installer and other bul****... :confused: )
