Any assistance is appreciated,

I took my 250 GB External Freecom USB 2.0 enclosure apart to mount the drive internally and its giving me beans... I have tried every combination of cable and master/slave setting that is sensible and then some and when I attach the drive my Windows XP wont boot :(

It worked with exactly the same hardware setup but with Linux so there is no H/W failure but I suspect it is a Windows or firmware problem...

Any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to Virtual Dr. :)

I think it is because XP is picky about hardware and remembers what was used before, like when you replace a motherboard you are required to install XP over itself to get the OS up and running again....that may be your only option here.

Actually, clear up a couple of question firstly please:

1. Are you trying to make the drive the primary boot device?
2. Or is this a secondary Slave drive?
3. Are you dual booting with Linux?
