I recently got this email from comcast stating that now they will be using McAffee for all comcast subscribers....all of this is FREE to the comcast customer.
Any comcast customers here that has taken up this deal?
I have Norton, and since I got this announcment:
Free Mcafee (http://www.comcast.net/security/mcafee/)
I heard Mcaffee isn't so great as Norton...but I think everyone has their OWN opinion too...but I am definately considering this free service.
Can anyone vouche for this?

hambone2--I suspect that McAfee is just as good as Norton. I "feel" I have seen more posts complaining that McAfee McAfee causes problems with other programs than I have about Norton, but that could be wrong.
I am sure you will get lots of comments. Doubt you will have much to lose by trying it when your Norton subscription runs out.

Hello. I have Comcast High-Speed Cable, and I would not accept the offer because I had bad luck with McAfee conflicting with my other programs. I've learned that you really have to check things out and decide what goes best with your system and programs installed. I prefer eTrust EZ Armor (Computer Associates) Anti-virus because the software downloads definitions daily. Norton does this weekly, or in emergency cases, such as a "wild distribution" virus. So, I'm left to download the daily "Intelligent Updater." Your best bet is to ensure compatibility with your system and software, as well as reading the reviews. (Dell 1.8G, 512 MB RAM, Win XP home, Comcast High-speed Cable, Norton AV, Zone Alarm Pro firewall, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, Spy Sweeper, Spyware Doctor, Spybot, Ad-Aware SE, A-squared, X-Cleaner, CounterSpy, and CCleaner)

I'm a Comcast customer and have seen the offer. Many moons ago I ran from Norton and McAfee both... too much overhead eating up my RAM and Processor cycles. I'm just a bloat hater.
I did experience the product as Qwest DSL also has the same offer for their customers and I was working on a client PC that was using it. Didn't analyze it or anything... seemed o.k. enough but if you like to have control of your PC I'd stay away. ;-)
