How can i delete my Norton 2005

How can i delete my norton 2005 anti-virus. I cannot open it and am wanting to re-install however i need to remove the old one first. When trying on add/remove programmes it justs freezes.

Go to Symantec site and download SymNRT ~ a Norton removal tool for just this purpose.

Thanks that did the job.

However i have re-install norton 2005 and when trying to open it, it says "Another instance of the configuration wizard is running" ??

Any help on this one?

Now go back to Symantec and get the manual clean up intructions.
It will take a hour or two of running through the regs and such to get it cleaned up enough to reinstall.

Everything published by Symantec falls into the category I call "Arrogant, Self-Indulgent Software." This means that the application itself appears to behave as though it is the single most important part of your computing life. This trait is apparent from end-to-end, from the install through the (attempted) uninstall. There are other publishers, but Symantec is the one that always comes to mind first.

The main problem with Symantec products (among other things) is that they are famous for leaving thousands of lines of code in your registry. They also like to make permanent changes to your system, often cosmetic, changes that are sometimes outright advertisements for Symantec and which require no small amount of computing savvy to restore.

I'm sorry this tip will be of no help to you, but my opinion (and practice) is that the most effective way to uninstall Norton anything is not to install it in the first place.

My vendor was visibly shocked when I said "no thanks" to Norton Antivirus on my new system a few months back. I found out why when he finally lowered his price to $15 "just so you'll have it around in case you need it."
