Windows Vista in your Christmas stocking?

Users can expect Windows Vista to ship by November 15, 2006 - just in time for the 2006 holiday shopping season, according to WindowsITPro. Microsoft will no doubt hope to cash-in on a consumer PC buying frenzy during the run up to Christmas.

Does this mean we will simply be able to get a copy off the shelf and install it striaght onto our machines? I can't wait to see the new stuff it has to offer, anyone got a link to some screenshots or something?, and how much will it cost for UK buyers?

Pricing etc hasn't been announced yet; it's a bit early. :) This is November 2006 remember.

There are plenty of screenshots from the first beta -- http://www.google.com.au/search?q=longhorn+beta+1+screenshots. Actually getting that beta at this point requires an MSDN or TechNet subscription.

I dont think minimum specifications have been announced yet have they as its still in beta but I expect it to be high just to run the OS before you even install any applications?

Beta 1 is quite usable on my 2 GHz laptop with 512 MB RAM. The fancy GUI stuff needs a good video card etc, but I really think they're aiming to make it scalable.
