AOL Explorer

Well I decided I'd download it and give it a go to see what it's like. It looks nice enough, but besides that, I'm not sure. I'd like some opinions.

One thing that bugs me is the processes it uses. I have one window open and in my running processes I see 2 instances of AOLServiceHost.exe and one of AOLHostManager.exe. Why do I need all that to browse the net?

Also, it seems to have a lot of rather useless functions. Like that Powerbrowsing menu. Flip my monitor over? Are they serious? There are also doubles in the various menus.

I don't know, it looks nice enough, but it just strikes me as rather odd.

I've only used AOL's web browser when using someone else's computer, so I don't have much experience with it. The only thing from AOL I have ever installed is AIM, even then I have to go about deleting a few folders that are placed by AIM upon install(viewmanager/viewpoint/aws/aod :mad: ). But yea... unless you are simply using it for free internet access, I say dump it and use IE or firefox. I don't really like software from AOL due to all the extra stuff they tend to throw in that you don't need.

Yeah I'm a Firefox user so I'm not to keen on IE-based browsers.

Another thing I absolutely hated about AOL Explorer was its setup - it took no user input whatsoever. I didn't want to install it onto my C: drive. I didn't want a desktop shortcut. I wanted a quick launch shortcut. That really sucked.
