Game on Xp

Hello. I'm running an acer travelmate 240 laptop (winxp home edition). I've been trying to use a game on it, but keep getting an error - "problem with driver enumeration". I've done all the usual procedures; compatibility, hardware acceleration, updated drivers, safemode...etc. What else could be the problem? Thanks.

DS9: Dominion Wars. Patch does not help.

It appears to be a very common problem with that game, and there doesn't seem to be much by way of a solution.

I'll move this over to our gaming forum, perhaps someone there knows a workaround.
