I have a very specific problem - Can you help?

I bought Sims2 for my 9 year old son, Rory - and he is desparate to use it.

I have loaded it (tiwce) but cant get it to run.

With disk 1 (of 4) in the CD rom drive, I get an error message (insert cd rom and try again) but it doesnt work ..

Have you come across this before ?

Best regards

Allan

I think you'll find this is a cdrom problem and not a game disk problem. How old is the cdrom drive? Have you ever cleaned the cdrom drive? Also, make sure the disk itself is clean of fingerprints or smudges.

Hi Allan, welcome to VDr :)
Firstly, make sure that you have administrator rights on the computer. Here (http://eagames.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/eagames.cfg/php/enduser/sims2_std_adp.php?p_faqid=15798&p_created=1095351720&p_sid=gKrC6IJh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0xMTMmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1) is the same problem mentioned on the official EA site. I must admit, that its not much help. But lets try to figure this thing out by ruling out what they suggest. Do the steps they suggest one by one. I can suggest that you try a couple of things first to possibly resolve the problem as soon as possible. The first suggestion is as stated above. Make sure you have administrators rights. Secondly, if you have two different cd-rom (or burner) drives, try running it from the other drive. Do those first, then go according to the instruction on the EA site. Let us know if any of these helped.
