Then you should read these articles first. If you have sensitive information on the hard drive then you need to be aware of the fact that it is recoverable unless you go to some effort.

The article appears to have been removed from the original Disk Sanitization link, for anyone that was struggling to get it. I've found another source for it and edited the link, so it should be OK now.
