Here is an excellent site, with both quick and thorough tests for testing your computer's ports for security:

If any of you are using a router to connect to the Internet, your ports may well show as "Closed" rather than "Blocked" - that is because the probe isn't able to get beyond the router itself, and is not a sign of poor security.
