when i try an use IE it says that i need to connect to the net because its set to work offline. the daft thing is that i am connected to the internet. when i turn off "work offline" and try and access a page it starts again. i have even pressed the connect button but it wont connect.

i know its connected becasue opera explorer works.

anyone got any ideas on how i can solve this.

Hi markshark.
There are a number of things that can be the cause so need to know a few specifics.
1. What version of I.E.
2. Type of connection (dial-up, dsl, cable)
3. Operating system.
Without knowing any of the above specifics, first thing I would check is the "GlobalUserOffline" value in the reg at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\ Internet Settings (win9x) or HKEY_USERS\SID\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings. (NT,2k) Should be set to "0" (zero).
Clear the check from "work offline" in I.E, then check that reg value.

IE in this case means Internet Explorer.
To find the version of it, open IE and in the menu go to the Help and select About Internet Explorer in the drop down. Read the line that starts with the word Version.
