My wife (who uses Yahoo email) received a message in which she was one of a large number of addressees on a list. Can anyone tell me whether and how she can make that list her own -- that is, enter it into her own Address Book – without having to type in each of the adresses?

I am unable to see how to do from the Yahoo Help service. Thanks. …wdc

i think if you hit reply all and send all those people an email it will ask you maybe if you want to add all those names maybe and you fill in a name for each with yahoo or hotmail it chooses or maybe fastmail.fm does that

is this what you mean?

This was found under Yahoo address book help

" What are lists and how do I use them?
Lists are groups of people to whom you regularly send the same email. A list makes it simple to send an email to a group of people (up to 100 people at once). You can also use lists to schedule group meetings.
To add, edit, or delete a list, open your address book and follow the steps below.

Adding a List

Click the Add List button in your address book.
Enter the name of the list in the space provided. List names can't contain spaces, commas, or single or double quotes.
To add members to your list, choose a contact from the contacts box on the left side and click the Add button. To add multiple members to your list, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while selecting names.
If you add a member by mistake, choose the member's name from the current list on the right side and click the Remove button. (The contact will be removed only from the current list, not from the whole address book.)
When you have finished adding members to your list, click the Save button to save your new list.
Please Note: A list must have at least one member.

Editing a List

Click on the Edit link to the right of the list name.
To change the name of your list, type the new name in the space provided.
To add a new member, choose the contact from the box on the left side and click the Add button.
To remove an existing member, choose the contact from the list on the right side and click the Remove button. (The contact will be removed only from the current list, not from the whole address book.)
Click the Save button to save your changes.

Deleting a List
Click the Edit link next to the list you want to remove or click on the link Lists to the right-hand side.
You can now either click on the Delete List button or check the list you want to delete and click Delete.
Please Note: Deleting a list only removes the list. It does not remove list members from your address book. Also, the Everyone list, which contains everyone in your address book, can't be edited or deleted."

pawprint: Thanks for your response. But, I am afraid, it doesn’t quite cover what I want, namely ---

I have received an email addressed to a long LIST, in which I am one of several dozen addressees. How can I make that LIST my own? That is, how can I enter all the addressees into my own Yahoo Address Book (and give it my own list name) without having to enter each addressee’s name and email address manually? ... wdc

THere are many programs designed to do that...

here's one.. http://www.worldminer.com/webemail.htm

But if you do a search for "extracting email addresses" on google you'll find lots more and possibly some free or trial versions you can use. They search documents or web pages for all email addresses and make them into various types of lists some of which you can import to your email program.
