Hi there.

running latest version of IE on Windows 2000. For some reason, for the past few days whenever I first open IE my PC freezes for at least a good 10 seconds before it opens...then, whenver I type an address in the address bar, it again freezes for another 10-15 seconds before the new page comes up. All other apps are running just peachy. I've cleared my cache 'n stuff...any ideas?

Hi Monty.
What type of connection are you using? (i.e. dial-up, cable, dsl, other)
One thing you can try right off the bat is deselect "Automatically detect settings" in your IE connections properties, see if it makes any difference. Close and then re-open IE after doing so.

just an update on this...I went to IE properties > advanced and clicked "restore defaults" which seems to have fixed everything. Not sure what was changed, because i wasn't in there...but just letting you know. Thanks again for the help.

Hi Monty.
Glad the pause is gone but you really should go back in there and disable "install on demand". Restoring defaults enables it.
Lots of nasty stuff can slip in the backdoor when it is enabled.
It shouldn't effect anything else.
I kill the auto-update feature too myself.
