I'm trying to help a friend at getting her computer working for her. I've solved a couple of problems, but there is one I can't figure out. When she closes out of her Internet server, the screen goes back to the desktop as you would expect, but the dialup connection doesn't disconncect. The only way I can figure to disconnect is to go to "Network Connections" and use the disconnect button there. The Operating System is WindowsME and she's using Internet explorer v.5.xxx. Can anyone tell me why her dialup doesn't disconnect when she closes Internet Explorer? Thank you.

Hi robjef,

I never heard anyone doing this before, if you close you Internet Explorer your dial-up automatically disconnecting.

All I know is that you have manually disconnect the connection once u have finished your browsing and downloading. If you don't want it that way, you can set it to disconnect if the connection has been idle for a while (u can decide the idle time).

If you don't want to go to Network Connections to disconnect the connection, then you can right click on the dial-up connection monitor which resides in your system tray (2 monitors) and select disconnect.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I was unaware because my ISP has a logoff button that takes care of it for me. Thank you again for your help.
