Hey everyone!
I'll either look like an idiot for mentioning what everyone else already knows, or this might be a help. It was to me.
I've been having some problems with one of my computers and I've had a lot of advice to use the MSCONFIG utility to check out some possibilities. My problem is that being somewhat new to this, I could never recognize the gibberish on the Startup tab. So it was always trial and error. Well, I stumbled across this wesite in Smart Computing magazine that has a near complete listing of what is found in the MSCONFIG Startup tab.
It also lists agreat number of viruses and the like that can also be found there--along with numerous other goddies and links.
I fired up my list and typed in over a dozen examples and it had an explanation for each one. It also lists whether it's required for startup or not. They do suggest just downoading the file to desktop because if you print it, it's ovr 250 pages long!!
You can go to www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php
To those that know about this, I'm sorry. To those beginners, like me, I hope it helps.
