don't Understand

Hi can someone please put me on the right track Iam getting very confused.

Ok heres the problem I am writing a paper for college. The scenario is that I've to Buy 15 brand new computers, A new server,all appropriate networking equipment (cables,hub,switch,tape).

Iam going to use a Star network topology.


1) The main problem is the 15 machines come with Windows XP.
Should these be installed directly on the PC's or on the server.

2) I have to select and buy word processing software, again should this be installed directly on the machines or onto the server. Also would a college have to buy 15 of the exact same pieces of word processing software or would one be legal.
