{background: OS: windows ME, printer: HP photosmart 1000 (with no problems),and hard drive:hp pavilion 7970}

i think that the thread that WebShark2000 began feb 2003, "What "little" program could you simply not do without?", is terrific...BUT i need a paper copy; so i tried to print all 28 pages but FAILED!!!

i opened "show printable view" & tried to print all pages...but it only printed pgs 1-6.(the top of the pages were shown as page 1 of 6 thru page 6 of 6...which indicates to me that this is all that there is to print...).

the last post on page 6 was by MiseryQ on 3-2-2003......i then tried to print it again..no go...i tried to just print pg 7 to see what would happen & absolutely NOTHING was done either physically by my printer nor was there any error shown by the computer....it just seemed as if i didn't even submit the printing request.

of course, i tried several other times & i even tried to print directly from the thread pages...not from the printable view...but again...NOTHING!!!!?

what am i doing wrong?
how can i print the rest of the pages???
PLEASE HELP!!!

thanks ahead of time!

amarok-sookgah--You have not provided the URL for the earlier 28 page thread so I cannot try to see what happens when I try to print.
However, when I click File|Print on a webpage, I am usually told by my printer's program how many pages are available for printing. And I can adjust the number of pages to be sent to the printer. Is your printer's program providing this option?
If not, you
1) should go to the first page that will not print and again click File|Print or
2) may be out of luck.
P.S. I have an ancient HP printer.

to Welshjim....i'm sorry to ask but where would i find the URL for the thread i mentioned (i'm computer illiterate & there are many. many things for me to learn ...such as this)?

fyi...the thread that i'm referring to is the 3rd thread shown on this forum (i hope it's permanently placed there) ....it's such a great site that even tho it was started 2-28-03, people are still adding replies....just go to the top of general & business software topic & you'll notice the 3rd post down...by Webshark2000 with 5 yellow stars.....if you (or anyone else) want to try to print beyond the 6th page & then let me know what happens, i'd appreciate it.

unfortunately, my printer doesn't tell me ahead of time how many pages there are sent to the printer unless i'm printing thru adobe.

i did try to print page 7 but no luck.

thanks for trying to help

amarok-sookgah--I know you are not "computer-illiterate", so forgive me if I say things you already know.
The URL (abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator, the global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web) of a thread is the address of the website you are referring to. It is what appears in the Address line when you are at the site.
I suspect you are referring to this thread
http://discussions.virtualdr.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=135859
My earlier suggestion may not be so helpful as I originally hoped. I think my File|Print command will only print the one page I am looking at. So to print all 28 pages I would have to go to each one and issue the File|Print command at each.

Dang, they made changes in there and All you can get are the 15 now.

Well, if you have word installed, open it, then come back to the page, then go to EDIT and select, select All, then copy and paste it into word. Just copy each page and add it to the original.

to Welshjim: thanks for not thinking i'm computer illiterate but i'm afraid i have to disagree...but that's another story...
yes, now that you explain it...i should have known where to find the url ...but the url you showed is the thread i'm referring to.

plus as i read both your & train's replies..i realize that the 6 pages that i was able to print is actually the 1st "15" posts or just page 1 since there are 15 posts shown on each page.

so if i want to print the 28 pages that are now associated with this thread , i would be printing about 168 actual pages for me
( 15 posts per each virtual page equals to approx 6 physical pages....28 virtual pages times 6 physical pages = 168).

train...thanks for the suggestion....but i've never used Word however your idea lead me to do something that my daughter taugh me...highlight all info on the virtual page/ right click & chose "select all"/open file/chose print/ now i can chose "selection" in the print range box which is an option that is not available when i do normal printing (this is basically what you suggested BUT i didn't have to use Word)

i was then able to print the virtual pg 2 & 3 before i quit & decided that now that i know how to do the printing..i'll print a page every so often til all 28 virtual pages are printed.

thanks to all so very much!!!

Good tip. Thanks for posting that.

Go Start, Run [type in]wordpad and hit OK

You can copy paste to it also. Try that and I think you will like the outcome also.
