I have my own local network with my friends in our flat where all our computers our linked and we share the internet, we all have xp home and use a 10/100 ethanet connection. Soon a new member will be joining us and will also be bring a computer and will also wish to share the internet (and our network). The only problem is their computer is and iMac. Will it be possible to connect this computer with ours?

The iMac will be able to pull an IP from the DHCP server so it will share the same IP range as the PCs (192.168.x.x). Therefore, you can access the Internet using the iMac.
However, you will need special software to access files on the iMac and to have the iMac access the PCs. One program that handles this is Dave (http://www.thursby.com/products/dave.html).

MacOS X has built-in CIFS/SMB support (fancy words for Microsoft filesharing)
