I know little about computers and most of the time I need help. Recently my computer had a problem and now it takes about a minute to log on from the welcome screen after turning on the computer. After it does log on a message appears and the title of the window and reads “C\WINDOWS\System32\winsys.exe.” The message in the window reads, “Windows cannot find ‘C\WINDOWS\System32\winsys.exe’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, then click Search.” At the bottom it has an “OK” button, after I click it the window closes. Before this problem the computer logged on in about ten or five seconds. I have Windows XP, Home. Please help, Thanks.

Hi A
If your os is Me or Xp use system restore and roll back befor the problem started.
btw Welome to Vdr. This is a great place to learn.
System restore can be found here:
Start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.
Just follow the instructionson screen to roll back.

PS If that doesn't work it is important that you post back with a result.

Thanks for the help but, some one already told me to do that a day ago, it did not work. I'm not the only one that uses this computer; there are about 4 other people that use it. I think that one of them did something. We all share the same problem.

ok here we go, the next thing is this, go here:
This link is to a free program:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download
Download spybot search&destroy, chekc for updates once the program is loaded and executed. Come off the net and run it. What it finds can be safely deleted. How the program works can be found under help/tutorial.
good luck
should be ok

OK, will do. My roomates told that the problem started a month a ago. They were too lazy to try to fix the problem. All the programs work perfectly without problems.

Again it did not work. We did have kazaa, but we don’t use it anymore and removed it. I have a warrantee on this computer; can I take the computer to Best Buy to get it checked? I think they might know what to do. Is the computer looking for the missing file the reason it takes so long to look log on?
