I am using a Linksys Ethernet Cable/DSL Router. I have one W2K system running the service to acquire the time from the NIST Time Server. I also have a Win 98SE system connected to this router.
I am not running W2K Server, but is it possible for the Win 98SE machine to get the correct time by "polling" the W2K system?
Currently, I keep the clock accurate on the Win 98SE by using a freeware program.
TIA,
Jeff

You can try putting a command like:net time \\win2kmachine /set /yin the Startup group or Task Scheduler on the Win98 machine. I know that works to get the time from a Server OS, but it may also work with Windows 2000 Pro.
Other than that, you could probably download an NTP server to run on your Windows 2000 box if you wanted, and point the Windows 98 machine's program to that instead of time.nist.gov. For one client machine, I personally wouldn't bother. :)

Thanks for the reply. Will try what you suggested but like you said, for one client machine it may not be worth it.
