Cannot access PC thru the network!

Hello again!

I have 5 computers in a home network. I can access all 4 other computers from my main machine, but whenever I try to access my main PC from any other machine, I get this:

I have no iea what to do to fix this and was wondering if anyone could give me a good starting point?

I am guessing the trouble machine is Win2K from the looks of the dialog box.
Are there any software firewalls running? Enable the guest account and/or creat a user accoutn on the troubled machine for the user trying to connect.

No, one machine is Windows 2K3, and the other is Windows XP Pro, and is the machine that can access the others, and is also the machine that cannot be accessed.

And yes, I've enabled the guest accounts on all computers, and it was still the same. I got fed up and formatted and re-installed XP on the trouble machine, now when I try to access the 2K3 machine, it times out and crashes the entire PC and I have to kill the PSU to shut it down and reboot. (the XP machine)

I'm at a loss as to what else to try. I thought that winblows XP was supposed to be the grand master of simple networking?

What is 2K3? Did you mean Server 2003?

Windows XP is a piece of cake to network but what you are trying to do is Remote Access and the best thing to do is get a router and use Port Forwarding to the machine is quesion. Give that one machine a static IP Address and it is very simple to connect remotely.

I do this all the time from a 2000 & XP Pro Setup to a 2003 Server behind a router at home. It does work if you take the time to read some manulas and do so homework.

I'm getting the same error you are..I'm actually trying to access the Win 98 machine from the winxp home pc and the error is idetical. The firewall for the xp machine that comes preinstalled is disabled. Did you by any chance fixed this problem?

I used to have a similar problem.

I had a network of 4 pc. 2 are running win98se, one win2k and one winxp. The two pc running win98se can't access my win2k. The one running winxp can.

User in Winxp and Win2k machines are logged in with administrator rights. So in the end, I log into my win98se machines as an administrator with my Win2k administrator password. This solved the problem.

It solved the problem because WIN2K and XP recognized the common user "Administrator" and allowed access.
