Hi joedawson,

Here are a few things you can check and try.

1. The date needs to be set properly. Double-click the clock and verify its time and date are correct.
2. If your password is not saved, verify that you are typing it correctly with the correct case (uppercase and lowercase).
3. Change your password at http://tinyurl.com/powr. Then try and sign in again.
4. If you have a firewall, make sure the proper ports are open and nothing are blocking it that may prevent Messenger from signing in.
5. If you disabled your firewall in the past, it still may be preventing it to sign-in. You may need to restart it or uninstall it and see if this helps.
6. Clear your IE cache and cookies.
7. Check your IE security settings. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools and then Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab, scroll to security section and make sure "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that "Use SSL 2.0" and "Use SSL 3.0" is checked. Then click Ok.
8. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following: "regsvr32 softpub.dll" (without quotes) and click Ok.

Then try again and see if this helps.
