Anti-Spamming Software

Hi Guys,

I need some advice/recommendations on anti-spamming software. We run Exchange Server 2000, and have Outlook 2000 installed on Windows 98/NT 4/2000/XP client machines.

if you can find a anti spam program that provides lisencing for each client i would say go for it, its way cheeper. there are mail servers out there that have the anti spam feature built in. I however have never used any server side programs.

do a search on google.com
or check downloads.com for any client side programs.

I have used a couple in my time but i wouldnt feel right recomending them being as they were freeware (meaning really crappy) and what you probably want is the pay-ware (or whatever the term is)

deffinatly check out the site lisence option.
like i said....don't know if thats available in anti-spamming programs...

anyone else have some tips????????????

IMO you're better off with server-side than client side for a whole bunch of reasons including management (only one or two boxes to take care of) and resource efficiency (reject the spam instead of having to accept and then delete it).

Does anyone at your organisation have any Linux or BSD experience? You can do some fantastic stuff with Postfix (http://www.postfix.org/), SpamAssassin (http://www.spamassassin.org/) and Amavis (http://www.amavis.org/).

If you'd prefer not to have to worry about it too much yourself, there are managed services like Brightmail (http://www.brightmail.com/), Messagelabs (http://www.messagelabs.com/) and Postini (http://www.postini.com/) available, but they'll cost you big $.
