Internet explorer problem

Hi,
I have a problem with my internet explorer , I'm using verio 5.5 on a win98se box , the problem is that the download windows is always appear when i click on any link or want to browse a page , it's always promiting me for download , so I can't browse anything cause when i click on anylink or want to enter any page that window appears..

I tried to check my security setting and they are on medium so everything is ok , also I tried to upgrade to internet explorer 6 but the problem is still happening .

I used norton anti virus with the latest update to check my pc for viruses but found nothing .

Have you tried looking for Spyware? Suggest you run Spybot and/or Adaware...........sounds like you have some internet aware programme running - what does it want you to download?

I agree with Beggarall you seem to have some spyware in your puter. To get Spybot Search & Destroy go here. (http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=download) Once installed check for updates first. Then click on "check for problems," and "fix problems" once it has finished checking.

I'm fixin download spybot, but I want to upgrade mt Adaware also, do I need to uninstall what I have now, before installing Adaware 6.0?

What version, Duo maXell, do you have of Ad Aware? If the current version run it but also download and install Spybot because what Ad Aware doesn't find Spybot will. Plus Spybot is better, IMO, in that it's more straight forward on what to get rid of.
