cannot update IE6 with sp1

I have fresh installed WinXP Pro and I wanted to update IE6.
When I try to do so, it says incorrect version of browser for my
OS, and when I try to download files as offered by the msg window, it says cannot update coz. I have a later version.
How do I repair IE ?

This site tells you how to dn/load IE6 sp1 independantly of M$. Might give it a try...
