I am receivng an error:
"OUTLOOK.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."
When I try and open Outlook 2000 running under W2k Professional.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software but the error continues to reappear.
I assume the error log being created is drwatson.log which seems to have an entry regarding Outlook at the time I attempted to run it but it appears to be Greek.
I also get an error in a log called wmiadap.log approximately the same time with a message that reads "Performance library status is corrupt." however I am not sure this has anything to do with my problem.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?
Apprecaite the help...

That command deletes the ADAP ( AutoDiscovery/AutoPurge ) information in the registry.

Take a look at MS KB article, Error Message: OUTLOOK.exe Has Generated Errors and Will Be Closed by Windows (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297010) which offers the following (which I've edited) as the first thing to try:

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if information in the user profile, personal folder, or information services is corrupted. This behavior can also occur if a corrupted add-in prevents the start of Outlook.
RESOLUTION
1. Try to open Outlook by using the /safe command line switch: Go to Start>Run and type C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe /safe then click OK - substituting the correct path to Outlook.exe on your computer if different than the example given)
2. If Outlook opens successfully by using the /safe switch, disable all add-ins. To do so:
3. In Outlook, click the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab.
4. Click Advanced Options, click Add-Ins, and then click to clear all of the items.
5. Restart Outlook.
If disabling the add-ins does not resolve the behavior, perform a search for Extend.dat and rename the file to Extend.old.
