Linksys BEFSR41 & valid Ip adress

Hi guys,

I have bought an Linsys 4-port router. Ihave mad all the connection with my cable modem and every thing seems to work fine (internet, msn messanger...). The only problem is that i cannot longer play an internet tcp/ip direct connection multiplayer game with ages of empires because i can't find the right ip adress.
Usually the game give me an ip adress that worked fien, before the router installation, but i guess that after the router installation this ip adress is invalid.

I have visited the linksys webpage and have done all they said but still i cant make it work.

My question will be: How do i get a valid ip adress that i can give to my friends so they can connect to my pc? or is it possible for me to det myself an valid ip adress?

Q. How can I play internet games (i.e. Ages of empire) with the router?
A: Enable DMZ in “Advanced Features” of the web configuration screen. For example, if your computer’s IP address is 192.168.1.102, enter the last three digits, or “102”, in the DMZ field. You may also try using the port forwarding option instead of using DMZ

Go to your routers site, type: 192.168.1.1 ...only enter "admin" for password. Once on the screen,click the advanced tab,then forwarding tab. Enter the exe of your application such as below.

Works fine for WinMX,should get you to and from your game site...

On the Status page on the router's admin interface (see above) it should tell you what your "WAN" IP address is. This is the one you want to give out to people on the Internet.

You may need to forward ports or set up the DMZ for it to actually work though (see above)

I have tried the DMZ hosting as it said and did not work.
I have received an answer from the linksys support and they say i should use the port forwarding feature but the ehing is how can i know wich port the game is using (ages of empires)?

You might be able to determine which port Age of Empires uses from your software firewall log. If not, you could always enable the full range of external ports in the Linksys router config.

Another thing you might want to check with the config for your Linksys - have you disabled 'Block WAN request' on the Filters tab?
