sound is scrachy

when we play spider-man and granprix3 games the sound is very distorted or scratchy.....But ....It's ok when we play fifa 2001.
Can you help me please I've got a P-4, win 98 se,diretx8.1,Gigabyte motherboard with on board sound and 64 MB Nvidia Geforse2 MX/MX 400.
